The number of learners that can be supervised by a single invigilator during an End-Point Assessment (EPA) exam depends on the format of the assessment.

On-Screen (Online) Exams

  • For exams delivered digitally (e.g. via the Surpass system):

    • One invigilator can supervise up to 20 apprentices at one time

This limit ensures that the invigilator can:

  • Effectively monitor all learners

  • Maintain exam integrity

  • Respond promptly to any issues or queries during the assessment

Paper-Based Exams

  • For paper-based exams (used in specific or exceptional circumstances):

    • One invigilator can supervise up to 30 learners

Paper-based exams typically require less individual technical support, allowing for a slightly higher ratio.
