Is the provider required to do anything before a certificate is claimed?

For most apprenticeship standards, no additional action is required from the training provider once the End-Point Assessment (EPA) result has been confirmed. However, there are specific additional requirements for certain standards.

Engineering Technician and Rail Standards

For the Engineering Technician and Rail standards, additional documentation must be completed before the apprenticeship certificate can be claimed.

These include:

  • Performance Review Interview Form (PIRF)

  • Employer Endorsement Form

Process for Submitting Additional Evidence

  • An EPA Coordinator will contact the training provider directly to request the required documentation

  • The provider must ensure the forms are:

    • Fully completed

    • Accurate

    • Returned promptly to avoid delays in certification

What Happens Next

  • Once the PIRF has been received:

    • It will be forwarded to IMechE for review (where applicable)

  • Once the Employer Endorsement Form has been received:

    • The certificate claim process can proceed

Important Considerations

  • Certificates cannot be claimed until all required documentation has been received and approved

  • Delays in returning the PIRF or Employer Endorsement Form may result in delays to the learner receiving their certificate

  • Providers should respond promptly to any requests from the EPA Coordinator
