If the learner failed their EPA on the first attempt, what would be the process if they are ready to resit?

If an apprentice does not pass one or more components of their End-Point Assessment (EPA) on the first attempt, they may be eligible to resit, in line with the requirements of the relevant assessment plan.

Initiating the Resit Process

When the apprentice is ready to resit:

  • The training provider must contact EPA Operations

  • An EPA Coordinator will:

    • Review the request

    • Enable the resit opportunity within ACE360

Resubmitting Gateway

Before a resit can be booked:

  • The provider must re-submit the learner through gateway in ACE360

  • This confirms that the apprentice is prepared to undertake the resit and meets all necessary requirements

GDF1 Requirements

  • Providers must ensure the Gateway Declaration Form (GDF1) is still valid

  • If the existing GDF1 form is more than 6 months old, a new, fully signed form must be uploaded as part of the gateway resubmission

Booking the Resit

Once the gateway has been re-submitted and approved:

  • The EPA booking process will begin again

  • A new assessment date will be scheduled in line with:

    • Assessor availability

    • Standard and component requirements

Important Considerations

  • Resits must comply with the rules set out in the standard’s Assessment Plan (e.g. time limits or attempt restrictions)

  • Delays in resubmitting gateway may impact how quickly a resit can be arranged

  • All documentation must be accurate, up to date, and complete to avoid further delays
