EAL requires all gateway documentation to be appropriately signed to confirm agreement from all relevant parties. The preferred and accepted signature types are outlined below.
Preferred Option: Wet Signatures
A wet signature (a handwritten signature applied directly to a printed document) is the preferred method
This provides the clearest evidence of authentication and agreement from the apprentice, employer, and training provider
Acceptable Alternatives
Where a wet signature is not feasible, EAL can accept the following alternatives:
Digital signatures
Must be applied through a recognised method (e.g. e-signature platforms)
Must include a visible timestamp to confirm when the document was signed
Scanned or image-based signatures
A clear image or scan of a wet signature inserted into the document is acceptable
The document must still clearly show all required signatures from each party
Important Considerations
Regardless of the signature type used:
All required parties (apprentice, employer, and provider) must have signed the document
Signatures must be clear, legible, and complete
The document must be dated within the last 6 months at the point of gateway submission
The integrity of the document must be maintained (i.e. no alterations after signing)
