Can a training provider register a learner on a standard that EAL is opting out of?

Training providers may continue to register apprentices on a standard that EAL has announced it will be withdrawing from, up until the official end date for registrations set by EAL.

When EAL makes the decision to opt out of a standard, it will:

  • Continue to deliver end-point assessment (EPA) for that standard during a defined transition period

  • Clearly communicate a final registration deadline to all customers and partners

Before this deadline:

  • Training providers are still able to register new apprentices onto the standard with EAL

  • EAL will continue to accept and process registrations as normal

After this deadline:

  • EAL will no longer accept any new registrations for that standard

  • Providers will need to select an alternative end-point assessment organisation (EPAO) for any new starts

It is important to note that:

  • Apprentices already registered before the cut-off date will still be supported through to completion, in line with EAL’s EPA delivery commitments

  • The transition period is designed to allow sufficient time for providers to plan and adjust their delivery arrangements
