It will be important for IQA’s to ensure they plan and prepare moderation staff training and standardisation. IQA’s must also consider observing the process to ensure it is being conducted correctly, particularly with new qualifications or new moderation staff.

A typical cycle for the moderation preparation & implementation is shown below:

Your Centre EQA will request to see your plans so that they can plan opportunities to complete in-progress checks against the scoring/marking and/or grading and plan observation of assessments, scoring/marking and/or grading.

Failure to provide sufficient information to facilitate the EQA monitoring activities and moderation may result in a sanction being applied to the Centre and delays in the learner’s outcome.
