EAL aims to present plans for the engagement for AO moderation five days prior to the engagement date by submitting a Centre Engagement Form.

Unless otherwise specified or agreed, the Centre should assume the engagement will be remote and conducted via live video conferencing such as Microsoft Teams.

Planning, beyond the stipulated five days, may be required when the AO moderator plans to observe the assessment and marking as part of the engagement. It may also need to be conducted on site where it is safe to so, however, EAL will consider opportunities for observation to be conducted by video.

Where video is an option, EAL will require Centres to test the quality and effectiveness of using this method in advance and seek agreement from those involved in the assessment.

Your engagement plan for moderation will include:

  • Agenda

  • How the moderation will be conducted

    • Assessment document review

    • Observation of assessment and marking

  • Learners requested for sample

  • What records you will be required to upload such as

    • Moderation record

    • Learner result and claims in rank order

    • Learner assessments

  • Additional information as required

The moderation activity may take place as a part of a general EQA monitoring engagement.
